Be a part of the largest Women's Golf Association and Get Ahead!

WELCOME

Welcome to the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association. We formed the chapter in 1999 with ladies primarily in the Naples area. We recently changed our name from the Naples Chapter to the Southwest Florida Chapter, and our members stretch all the way from Marco Island to Naples to Ft. Myers and beyond to Cape Coral.

Be a Mentor and Make New Friends!
Remember when you were a new member and you felt as though you did not know many women in the group? When golf and non-golf events were offered, was there ever a time that you may have skipped an event because you felt as though you didn't know anyone or weren't confident in what was expected?

Well, here is your opportunity to make a new member feel welcome - by offering to mentor her at one or more events. Of course you will make new friends, too!  We will be adding a mentor section to the registration process in 123 for each event.

If you are interested in mentoring a new member for that event, just check the box and we'll pair you up.  It's that easy!  If you are interested in mentoring a new member in general or for any questions, please contact Vivian Ebert, Membership Director, drebert@livingwellfl.com, 239-290-9141; or Carol Mirando, Member Services Director, cmmirando@aol.com, 239-227-5889.

GOLF EVENTS

Summer Match Play Series

We had 24 players trying their luck in Match Play at the Quarry on Saturday August 12th.

The course was in excellent shape and the weather cooperated, so everyone was able to finish their matches.

There were a lot of close matches but these players were outstanding collecting points.

In the > 20 handicap category:
2nd place went to Chris Burgner with a total of 13.5 points
1st place went to Nancy Stone with a total of 14.5 points

We had to have a score card playoff in the < 20 handicap category:
2nd place went to Sherri Patchen with 10.5 points edging out Mo White and Jennie Taylor
1st place went to Brittany Crawford with 12 points

Closest to the Pin proxies were won on holes:
#2 Brittany Crawford
#6 Chris Burgner
#13 Sherri Patchen
# 15 Kerstin Koenig

A great time was had by all so sign up for our last Match Play Event on September 30th at Raptor Bay.  Just for Fun golf will also be available.

Registration is open on 123 Sign Up

 Thursday Summer Golf Schedule!

The full schedule of courses for Summer Golf League has been finalized.  Take a look at the schedule and come out for golf and lunch.  We are a noncompetitive social league.  Cost for play varies based on club fees, but in general the cost is in the $50 to $60 range with lunch included.  Lunch is always optional. Tee times are in the morning subject to course availability for our group. There is no charge when you sign up on 123.  You will pay at the course when you arrive. It is important that you register on 123 because space is limited.

Here at the dates and locations of planned play:
8/17 - Forest Glenn
8/24 - The Dunes
8/31 - Heritage Bay
9/7 - TPC Treviso Bay
9/14 - Stoneybrook
9/21 - Vasari
9/28 - Spring Run
10/5 - La Playa

Tee times are AM generally beginning at 9:00.  Registration through 123 closes at noon on the Tuesday prior to play.  Come regularly, or when you see a course you have wanted to play but just have not had a chance too.

For more information or questions please contact Natalia Armstrong at coarmnatalia@gmail.com or 201 572-0518

PLAY LISTS

Email Patty Gift at Patty.Gift@raymondjames.com  if you want to be put on the weekend and/or weekday lists. Whenever you want to organize a game, simply email the people on the list and set up the tee times.

Weekly Thursday Afternoon 9 & Unwind

We are a small, relaxed  group of golfers of varying skill levels (some do not even have a handicap) who like to play 9 holes.

Several of us still work so that is why we play at 4:00pm at a more centrally located course in North Naples, Bonita  or Estero.

If you would  like to be added to the Afternoon 9 & Unwind Email Notification List contact the volunteer coordinators, Renee Porter-Medley orTrisha Hare.
Afterwards, we usually go out for food & beverage at a nearby restaurant.
The coordinators will send out a weekly email confirming location, green fee and any other information.

HELP WITH THE WINTER HIBISCUS LEAGUE

Last year we had a blast, ending with a wonderful league ending party at the home of Beth Marcotte.  This coming year we plan to start the league in November, and we would like to run the league "by committee".   And we again would like to have a nine hole option and an 18 hole option.   Please send me an email and let me know if you are able to help run the league, and if so, whether you can help with the 9 hole league or the 18 hole league.   You do not have to attend every time, but pitch in from time to time.  Reply to judyfreiberg@sbcglobal.net

HOLE-IN-ONE

EWGA SWFL Hole-in-One Insurance

The tradition of celebrating the rare feat of a Hole-In-One with your fellow players is well established, and, as the odds of getting a hole in one, very roughly, are 12,500 to 1 for an amateur player, it is indeed reason to celebrate!

The resulting bar bill from the celebration round of drinks traditionally bought for fellow players that day can be daunting, which is why we encourage you to purchase SWFL Chapter Hole-in-One Insurance for just $5. Don't be that person that just sneaks away without celebrating your shot of a lifetime!

The fund was established to help subsidize the traditional celebration of buying drinks should a Chapter member get a coveted Hole-in-One in any official Southwest Florida Chapter event or outing.
Having submitted a paid bar bill receipt to the Event Chair, the player will be reimbursed by the Chapter Board for that expense, not to exceed the total amount of funds held in the Hole-In-One account, which fluctuates depending on how many Chapter members participate, and how many Hole-In-Ones are paid out.

Following payout for Hole-In-One celebrations, should the fund fall below $250, participating members will be asked to reinvest $5 to help cover the next celebration(s). Members can elect to participate in the insurance program at any time by paying the $5 fee at any Chapter related event.

Only members that have paid for the insurance in advance will be reimbursed for Hole-In-One celebration expenses so don't run the risk. Your next round may be the one......  SIGN UP NOW!
